Kinect hack helps the blind get around

Students Michael Zöllner and Stephan Huber have come up with a way to assist blind people with day to day navigation.  Their new system, called “NAVI” uses the Kinect to watch where they are going, and direct them away from obstacles.  If they can get a way to make this smaller, I think they have something here.
